DESCRIPTION

We launched the original Modern Gypsies website in late 2006. It is a full flash portal site that features an XML controlled dynamic mp3 player, events calendar and custom video player and library also controlled by
XML. When the site is completed Michael will be able to control the whole site by simply editing simple text and xml files.

This site loads quickly because it is a series of external .swfs that transition when called by the browser. It makes use of streaming .flv files and images to create a
whimsical fun experience. It makes use of a PHP mail form that hides under a top hat and lets birds fly when clicked. This was a great and fun project to work on and
I was happy to be able to use the latest technology to present the amazing Modern Gypsies in the best possible light.

Now we are revisiting the site and are actively working to update and rebuild the site using the latest best practices. It will be reworked in a way that makes it more integrated with social networks, is database driven and takes advantage of many of the free and available API that exist today. There is no point in clientsworrying about maintaining a video library when a service like vimeo is available and easy to use. The challenge for me as a developer is making the user experience as seamless as possible.
